Professional services marketing
How professional services firms should approach Google Ads given low search volume but high per-client value, and the targeting mistakes that waste budget.
Professional services searches are often low volume compared to consumer categories, but each converted client can be worth a significant fee. This changes the calculus: a higher cost per click is often entirely justified if the conversion rate to an actual paying client is reasonable.
An ad for 'GST registration consultant' sending traffic to a generic homepage loses far more conversions than one sending traffic to a dedicated page about that exact service, with a simple consultation booking form on the same page.
A professional services ad click that lands on the homepage instead of the relevant service page is money spent for very little return.
Because volume is low, judge results over a longer period — a month of data on a niche legal or advisory service term may only produce a handful of clicks, too few to draw conclusions from reliably.
Track consultation bookings, not clicks, as your conversion goal — a professional services click is nearly worthless without a booked consultation behind it.
